Day 226
I’ve been doing my 365 project for 226 days now. I just had a quick look back over some of the images and it’s quite alarming to see how much has happened in this year so far (I started on January 1st). I feel it’s a good a time as any to post some of my favourite images, with the obligatory nostalgic comments of course.
Taken at the very start of the project, and I remember I was already struggling to find pictures. At the time, I was mostly studying for exams and therefore not leaving the house often. However, on a walk down to the shops, I saw this oil slick in the road and the winter sun was reflecting off it.
I think this was my first trip to London to take photos after my exams, a welcome change as it had been a while since I had been. Walking along the Thames is one of my favourite things to do, as there is always a mix of Londoners and tourists around.

This was taken in Brighton while I was waiting for a friend to meet me at the station - said friend was then my boyfriend for some of this year. We have since broken up, but he at least made me like Brighton - before this I had always hated the place!
This is probably in my top 5 favourite pictures of this year (of my pictures at least). It brings back some beautiful memories. As the description says, I spent the evening with some friends and we had an impromptu bonfire in their garden. I was quite upset that evening, as a combination of several things - my uncle’s death, problems with relationships, fear of the future.. but the entire evening calmed me down immensely and put many things in perspective.
The last official day of school. Ever. Quite a few people were upset, but I never thought I’d miss it. Looking back now, there are times I will want that structure and guidance, but I think I’ll value my freedom and independence far too much!
As a last picture, I simply think this is a calming and beautiful image - the greens, the smooth lines and proper composition.
With so many days left of the year, I wonder what will come. As my first entry says, so much is about to change for me! In just over 2 weeks I will be relocating to Melbourne, Australia. I will have a new social group, a new job, new routine… The future scares me a little sometimes.
